Paul Simon joined John Mayer tonight (and American Idol judge and former Journey – Woo! – bassist Randy Jackson) for the début episode of In Tune on VH1. If any friends of Lasers in the Jungle care to share a taped copy of the episode (or burned onto DVD or VCD or whatever), drop me a line. You can sample some great clips of Paul & John talking and playing at the In Tune Web site, including performances of Slip Slidin’ Away, The Boy In The Bubble and Late In The Evening, as well as Paul talking about Elvis.
Interestingly, the Cleveland Plain-Dealer reported today that Paul perfomed a new song at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last month, one that didn’t make the performance, called “Wartime Prayers.” Some lyrics:
Wartime prayers
Wartime prayers
In every language spoken
For every family scattered and broken
and
You cannot walk with the holy if you’re just a halfway decent man
No word yet if the song will be included on Paul’s upcoming album, or if it will go the way of Citizen of the Planet, and wind up on a Simon & Garfunkel interview show twenty years hence (the 67th anniversary of their arguing).
