Sunday

My hunch is that most of you missed Harry Smith’s profile of Paul on CBS Sunday Morning today. Some devil has posted it on the Web.

That’s copyrighted material owned by CBS. Kind of uncool to be distributing a link to that location.

Yes, I’m certain CBS is going bankrupt right now because of this link on a Paul Simon fan page. Relax just a little…

It has nothing to do with bankruptcy. I work in the broadcast industry at the network level and they take their copyrighted material very seriously. it won’t bankrupt CBS but it could shut this site down in nothing flat.

Paul Simon wouldn’t go bankrupt if you posted all the tracks to his new album here either but I’m sure that wouldn’t happen.

CBS is not selling that news piece. If you missed the broadcast, you are SOL. This gives a chance to listen after the fact. Quite different than competing with record sales. Anyway, enjoy the new record…

Simple copyright and broadcast laws always say you cannot rebroadcast or transmit the material. It has nothing to do with if it’s for sale or not.

All I said at the top of this is that providing links to illegally transmitted stuff is a little uncool. Plain and simple. I frankly doubt Paul Simon would approve of it either.
